Franciscan Monastery

The Franciscan monastery was founded in the 18th century by the Franciscans who fled the Ottomans to the island of Brač.

It is known for the famous Croatian poet and Franciscan Andrija Kačić-Miošić, who was the principal of the monastery for several years and initiated its renovation.

The monastery today holds a private museum with a valuable collection of books, paintings and other objects.
