The stone bridge in the Veli Dolac canyon was built by the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, so the locals call it the Francis Joseph Bridge.
It is unusual because there are no rivers on the island of Brač, so there should be no bridges.
But this bridge was built on the site of an old one destroyed by a large torrent that passed through the canyon after the storm.
The bridge can be reached on foot through the town of Ložišća with a pleasant walk through olive groves, and near the bridge there are several climbing areas.
