Povlja is a small village located on the northeast side of the island of Brač. It is located in a deep bay that has served as an anchorage for Roman galleys since ancient times.
The place exudes peace and is ideal for a relaxing family vacation. The locals live from tourism, fishing and olive growing, so you can enjoy a traditional dalmatian living by the sea.
Nearby are numerous hidden coves and beaches created to enjoy the crystal clear sea while summer nights abound with events for all visitors.
Povlja also has a significant place in the history of the island of Brač. The Charter of Povlja was found there. It is the oldest preserved document written in Croatian Cyrillic, which is today kept in the Parish Office in Pučišća. Particularly impressive are the remains of an early Christian basilica from the 6th century located right next to the parish church.
Although a small village, Povlja offers something for everyone, beautiful beaches, long promenades and cultural sights, fresh seafood and local wine.
