Ferry to Brač Island: Best Routes, Timetables and Tips

Brač

Brač is well connected not only to Split, but also to the mainland and neighbouring islands. You can reach it by ferry, catamaran or seasonal routes that skip the highways and traffic jams – and offer the sea instead.

Getting to Brač

Travellers coming from Split have the most options, but visitors from Hvar, Vis, Korčula, and even Dubrovnik are not left out. If you know where to look, it’s easy to find your ideal route to Brač.

Below is a detailed overview of all active routes to the island. Pay special attention to seasonality, as not all lines run year-round. However, during the summer months, most of them operate at full capacity.

We strongly recommend buying your tickets in advance and online, directly from the transport operator's website. This way, you can avoid queues at ticket offices and outdated departure times on third-party sites, since timetables are often subject to change.

Ferry Split – Supetar (Jadrolinija)

  • Type: car ferry
  • Duration: approx. 1 hour
  • Year-round service
  • Summer: up to 14 daily departures, often additional unscheduled sailings
  • Off-season: approx. 10 daily departures

The Split – Supetar ferry is the main and busiest route between the mainland and the island of Brač. Tickets don’t need to be bought in advance, but it’s advisable, especially in high season.

If you're travelling by car, it's important to know that vehicle boarding is on a first-come, first-served basis. Most of the year, arriving 30–60 minutes in advance is sufficient, but during summer weekends and holidays, wait times can be longer, so plan accordingly.

First time on a ferry boat to Brač Island? Tips and recommendations

Extra sailings are often added during peak periods. Tickets are valid for the whole day and are not tied to a specific time, which offers flexibility.

Foot passengers board without delays, but in high season, it's smart to arrive a few minutes early to get a seat or a good spot to enjoy the view.

Check the timetable, prices, and buy tickets on Jadrolinija’s official website.

Ferry Makarska – Sumartin (Jadrolinija)

  • Type: car ferry
  • Duration: approx. 1 hour
  • Year-round service
  • Summer: up to 6 daily departures
  • Off-season: 3–4 daily departures

This route connects the eastern part of Brač with the Makarska Riviera and offers a practical alternative to the busier Split – Supetar line.

Unlike that main route, tickets for this ferry are valid only for the selected departure. This guarantees a spot on board, which is one reason many travellers prefer this option. However, the ferry is smaller, and capacity fills up quickly in summer, so early booking is recommended.

Queues are generally shorter than in Supetar, but peak season can still bring crowds. Arriving at least 30–45 minutes before departure helps ensure a stress-free start to your trip.

Find timetables, ticket prices, and online booking on Jadrolinija’s website.

Catamaran Split – Supetar (Brač)
