Baterija Fortification

Destination:
Milna

Baterija Fortress is the largest fortress on the island of Brač.

The French built it in 1806 to prevent Russian ships from occupying the Dalmatian islands.

It was an important strategic point during the Napoleonic Wars in the eastern Adriatic and the last external line of defence of Split and its wider surroundings, which the famous General Marmont managed.
