Supetar is once again opening the doors of its Božićni kantun – an Advent program that brings a true festive atmosphere, community spirit and a full schedule of cultural, musical and gastronomic events. The program begins on 28 November, while the official opening will take place on 29 November at the open-air summer cinema.
Božićni kantun, Supetar’s traditional Advent program, returns this year to the summer cinema, turning it into the central spot for holiday gatherings, entertainment and enjoying local winter specialties. Visitors will be able to enjoy food, drinks and sweets at the festive stalls, as well as a varied program featuring concerts, theatrical performances, children’s events, charity activities, creative workshops, lectures, tombolas, food events and film screenings.
The program starts on Friday, 28 November, when children from the Mrvica Kindergarten will decorate Park Ratac, while the official opening of Božićni kantun is scheduled for Saturday, 29 November. In addition to the main events in Supetar, Advent activities will also take place in the nearby villages of Mirca, Škrip and Splitska.
Among the many events, the most notable are the traditional lighting of Advent candles every Sunday at 19:00 in Supetar’s main park, followed by the popular Jelkine cinkvine – a traditional prize tombola led by the well-known teta Jelka. Tuesdays are reserved for the Maturalni marendini of the Brač High School, where students prepare traditional dishes for visitors, while Fridays bring the Božićni marendin: Unlocking the Flavours of Brač.
On Christmas Eve, 24 December, a rich program will take place in all localities, and almost every Advent evening brings a new concert or musical performance.
