The Selca Tourist Board is launching a unique summer event series celebrating the rare buharica olive oil from eastern Brač.

This summer, the Selca Tourist Board is inviting guests and locals alike to discover one of Brač’s most unique treasures – the olive oil made from the rare buharica variety.
The buharica olive, sometimes called “speckled oblica”, grows only in the eastern parts of Brač and has been cultivated here for over 300 years. Its oil is gentle in aroma and taste, slightly sweet, and rich in antioxidants.
The mini festival will kick off on July 25 in Selca with a live performance by the traditional klapa group Partenca. On August 1, the event moves to Sumartin with the lively Think Pink band, then continues on August 15 in Povlja with another performance by Partenca, and finishes back in Selca on August 22 with Katica Marinović and the nostalgic group Pisme iz naftaline.
Each night will feature a local island market where visitors can sample and purchase buharica olive oil, Brač stone and wood souvenirs, traditional sweets, homemade liqueurs, honey and varenik – a sweet Dalmatian condiment.
The evenings are designed as a true island experience, blending flavours, music, and local stories. Guests are invited to relax, taste, and soak in the summer nights with a glass of oil in hand and a song in the air.
Because sometimes, the smallest olive tells the biggest story.
