During the Venetian-Turkish wars, Škrip and other settlements on the island of Brač were secured by fortresses. Although they are not completely preserved, two of those buildings can be seen in Škrip today.
Kaštel Radojković in the eastern part of the settlement was built right next to the Illyrian ramparts and on the foundations of a Roman mausoleum. At the top, there is a tower with openings or loopholes for defence. Today, the castle has been completely renovated and serves as the Museum of the Island of Brač.
Cerineo Castle is located west of the parish church and is considered the most monumental renaissance fortified castle on the island of Brač. It was built in a square shape, surrounded by a high wall and two tall towers on the northwest and southeast. The walls and towers of this castle are secured with loopholes on all sides.
