Croatian pop-rock singer and composer Neno Belan returns his classic “Bračka Balada” to Pučišća with the premiere of two new music videos on September 20.
Pučišća, the picturesque town on the island of Brač, will host a special musical event on September 20, celebrating the return of the iconic song “Bračka Balada” by Neno Belan. Two new music videos, in standard and instrumental versions, will be presented at the event, starting at 6:00 PM in the Dvorana Hrvatskog Skupa.
Neno Belan, a celebrated Croatian singer and composer known for his pop-rock and Mediterranean-inspired music, wrote “Bračka Balada” in 1983. Inspired by the beauty and spirit of Brač, he returns the song to Pučišća, where his mother is from and a place he frequently visits, making the event deeply personal.
Belan shared his excitement on social media, inviting fans: “Almost a year ago, I announced this event. Finally, with great pleasure, I invite you to join the special premiere of two new music videos for ‘Bračka Balada’ on September 20 at 6 PM in Pučišća, at the Dvorana Hrvatskog Skupa. This song was written in 1983, as a young musician inspired by Brač, and now, 42 years later, I bring it back home. Come and be part of this moment where past and present meet in music and share the story and emotion that has lasted over four decades.”
Lyrics of the song Bračka Balada (Brač Balad)
Nothing is more beautiful to me
than the deep blue of the Adriatic,
the blazing sun in the sky,
ancient olive trees and pines.
Nothing is more beautiful to me
than my beloved Brač,
its white rocky cliffs,
figs, sage, and thorny shrubs.
I am far away now,
I have gone out into the world.
But I will return to my Brač,
to live and die there.
Nothing is more beautiful to me
than the pearly waves,
when I hear the crickets chirping
on the wings of the maestral wind.
Nothing is more beautiful to me
when dawn rises over Brač,
when high above the sea
a lonely seagull cries.
I am far away now,
I have gone out into the world.
But I will return to my Brač,
to live and die there.
Nothing is more beautiful to me
when the klapa softly sings,
when at some late hour of the night
a song of love is heard.
I am far away now,
I have gone out into the world.
But I will return to my Brač,
to live and die there.
I will return to my Brač,
to live and die there.
